I have been a fan of the Linde Werdelin reps and had this project on my mind for some time.
Here is the plan
- Swiss ETA 7750 swap - luckily I found a brand new Porsche 7750 cheap on the bay for 200USD it had a broken subdial hand which I didn't need anyway so I managed to negotiate the price down.
- Prof 2x AR crystal fitted ( I have to give it to the guy, great job and service, it makes the dial pop!)
- Gen Strap (coming soon)
So I'm fairly new to watch modding. However, I have serviced a couple of movements now, so I'm starting to gain the experience along the way. My initial concern was the subdial hand at 6, I know how tricky these are and the fact the Asian subdial hands are 0.3mm bigger made me approach it with care, however, with a tip I picked up from another member on this forum I was able to get it on like a charm.
Anyway here are the pictures from the project.
Here is the Asian and Swiss movements side by side. After further inspection, I was amazed how much dirt there was in the Asian movement! Very bad assembly.
Next, the removal of the subdial hand I didn't need and the datewheel (I actually really like the design of the Porsche datewheel, think I'll keep this for another project)
Next, I replaced the the LW rotor onto the Swiss ETA, I added some lube also, the rotor was dry.
Next came the dial.
The hands believe it or not had oil drips on the top, so I took to good old rodico and a q-tip, did the job nicely.
Next was the best tip I got for hand setting a little bit of rodico to hold the hand while setting, I can't remember who exactly posted this, but it helped a lot for the subdial hand. You can also see I had to get creative with rodico to secure the movement.
And Voila!
The movement back in, I love the pearlage!
Here she is!
