Putting Crown back in only changes date

I'm a tearing my hair out here. Managed to get my watch crown out on a 7750 Asian. I pressed the small button to get it out. Now when I put it in it only allows you to change the date. I've tried multiple depths and once it allowed me to change the hands, but it's not winding. Is there a knack to it it or have I somehow fucked it?

Chances are pretty good that you've gotten the keyless works messed up. If so it requires removing the dial, hands, calendar work and so on to get it reset.

Must have got lucky, I give it a shake and a lot of preserving and time got it to work again. Not looking forward to opening it again, but kind of have to to put an e clip on the pusher. I think/hope if I pull the crown out to adjust the hours/minutes before pressing the small button will make a difference when putting it back in, who knows?
