How to differenciate between clone ETA movements

I have searched this forum and Google to death looking for an answer for this question. I am looking to upgrade my movement from a clone to a real ETA movement. However, the movent number is not stamped. Some TDs listed the movement as a 2836 and others listed it as a 2824. How do I know what is really inside my watch?

I have been able to find the differences between the movements of stem height and day/date function. Also the date flip is different. Here is the problem, I have nothing to directly compare it to so I can't figure it out. I am not very experienced either but am sure I can swap a movement if I can figure out which one to buy. Can someone please tell me how to tell the difference between the tow so I can be sure to buy the right movement to upgrade?

Here is a link to the watch on trusty. They call it a 2824 from Sky Factory. Puretime said it was Noob v10s with a 2836. I have read up extensively on it and it is the same watch. So who is right? What movemt is this?

Best would just send it to a watch smith. You are gonna have it swapped with an ETA anyway.

I have changed Asian movements 2824-2 and 2836 (without GMT function) many times to Swiss ETA2824-2. So the Swiss 2824-2 is fine for you.

As for taking it to a watchsmith, no thanks. I have swapped movements in DG2813s before without issues. I would rather do it myself, I like to work on things anyway. P0pperini, I have a gen and this rep as well as a v8s Hulk rep. This Sky (Noob v10s) is far superior to the other rep I have. It is better than the Noob in pretty much every way. I have read the links you sent already and if you notice, no one who contributed actually owns a v10s, and probably not a gen either. I do and do not let the price fool you, it is a great rep. even with magnification it is very gen-like. When I have them both out I use the serial number to tell them apart. Unlike the people in the threads, I have them both, have held them in my hands and inspected it compared to a gen. So for everyone who wants to say the v10s is not worth it because no one has taken the time to do an in depth review, sorry but you are just wrong. When the watch needs eventually serviced I want to throw a real ETA in it.

Members have not really put anything up about the v10s except opinions based on photos from TD websites, so here are some photos. Please don't let all this distract you from the original question. When I open up the back and look at the movement how do I know what ETA it is? It is a clone so it is not numbered. Google has been no help at all and TDs disagree.

Here are some photos:

RunningFast well I don't think anyone can argue with your hands-on experience buddy. Congrats on owning a gen. Wear them both in good health. Sorry I can't help any more, but having tagged KJ, perhaps he'll pop by later on and be able to help further.

If you already have the clone movement and are definitely going to upgrade it to a gen movement, you can just remove the dial and hands and look at the dial side of the movement. The 2836 and 2824 are quite different there and easily identified. The 2836 has a much more robust calendar system with extra parts.

If you really want to ID the movement while it's still encased there is a way. There is an extra hole in the mainplate on the 2836 for a calendar spring that is visible just inward from the 42 minute dial fastener. It's mostly hidden except for a small crescent but with a flashlight and the right viewing angle it can be seen.

Both gold movements are 2836, both silver are 2824

You can't tell from the back of the movement. You have to see the dial side date change mechanisms to confirm.

A clue is the instant flip date. If the date seems to roll a bit at midnight, it's a 2824. If it snaps instantly, it's likely a 2836.

Only way to confirm is to see the dial side of the movement though.
