Are the A2836 GMT and the ETA 2893 interchangeable? A2836 GMT Gear swap to Gen ETA2836?

Hello All, First post so bear with me. I am looking at a Rolex "Pussy Galore" custom with a A2836 GMT movement. I am wondering if the GEN ETA 2893 GMT movement interchange. I know there is a difference in movement height that will have to be dealt with, but are the pins on the dials in the same location. I have seen dials on eBay that supposedly work for both the 2836 and 2893, but I am hoping to get confirmation.

Also if that does not work is it possible to swap the A2836 GMT gears to a GEN ETA2836.

Thanks for your time.

Welcome to RWI,

Your hands will fit across most ETA movements, however check to see that the height of your pinions is sufficient to clear your dial and markers. If not, the GMT hand may hit one of the markers or get stuck on its way around. Your watchsmith can do that for you.

The 2893 is a thinner movement than the 2836, so stem height needs to be considered (as you have already mentioned).

Yes, you can remove the GMT bits off a A2836 and install them on a gen ETA 2836.

Dial feet are in the same place

The 2893 has a smaller hand hole for the GMT hand - 1.8mm instead of 2.0mm for A2836

Has anyone successfully done this before? Looks the Helenrou Swiss 2836 GMTs are no longer produced. I'm looking at ZF 2836 UTC with the 24 reference time at 12 and wondering if I can use this Sellita 2836 I have left over from another project.
