Brand new MK Iwc mark xviii with 9015 in it.

Running extremely fast since delivered. An hour or more ahead after only a few hours from being synced up with atomic clock

My first thought was magnetized, put it on the degausser, no joy.

Then, I attempted to regulate it. At first my adjustsments seemed to get her closer to normal for a few days, only being fast by a couple minutes for a 24hr period, then it went right back to its old ways at some point.

I am out of room on the (-) side for the regulator ring.

Whole servicing needed or is there something I am over looking?

Thank you

I'd either service it or replace the movement, depending on how confident you feel.
Should be an easy swap

I had one where the hairspring wasn't installed correctly which ran erratically fast. Do you have a timeographer?

I need to invest in one :/

Maybe that's my issue. Were you able to tell from an inspection that it was fudged?

I'd could probably handle a swap. I'm notorious for fucking up (my own) datewheels though. I've never tinkered with a miyota however.

That one was a while ago. I remember the spring did look malformed as it oscillated. I sent it out and the watchsmith was able to straighten it out and reinstall.

Hoping to revive this thread.. my 9015 is running ~145 spd fast. It the app on my phone indicates a change in magnetic charge when I move the watch near the sensor, but not as much as a real magnet. One of my other watches doesn't register at all. Do you think it's likely magnetism is the issue?

More than likely. You can take it to a watch smith who will demagnetize it for you, or you can buy your own and do it yourself. If that does not work, you’ll need to get your movement serviced or replaced, as mentioned above.

I tried de-magnetizing and no joy.

I ended up putting in a new movement.

I had one like that as well that would not demagnetize. I took it to a watchsmith who opened it up and found rust on many of the moving parts. Once he serviced it and cleaned the rust off, it ran well. Cost me almost as much as a new movement. In your case, if demagnetization does not fix the problem and it is a swiss movement, I would consider getting it serviced. If Asian, throw it out and install a new one.
