Is this Pelagos a gen or rep?

Request your help! I’ve looked at a few hundred pictures of gen vs rep and followed the progression of the reps to pretty much 1:1. I am wondering if anyone can still identify without having to take the case back off. I couldn’t get local watch smiths to remove the caseback. Thanks for any help provided.

Everything looks correct to be genuine. Common tells are the He valve is steel in rep, dial font is dull due to thinner print and date wheel tends to be sunken. Below is a comparison of my two liner gen and 5 liner rep for your reference.

Besurfhi if I may ask, is this a piece you picked up for a bargain? Or is it purely out of interest that you want to know

I got it for a bargain. I wasn’t aware of the replica watch market until I was looking at pictures of the watch online. Then I realized how close the reps were.

I now have a noob V9 sub-c coming.

I will be doing a 70 hour power reserve test also. I don’t think the Reps have that much power reserve.

I am also surprised 3 different jewelers said that their Rolex caseback removal tool didn’t seem to fit. I see reps having similar issues but more due to the material seizing. The watchmakers I was working with said the Tudor seemed to large.

The newer 5 liner has a wider case back then any other Rolex. Standard Rolex caseback tools will not fit. They only used three movements in those replicas, all which have about 40 hours power reserve maximum. The titanium galling is an issue, yes, but unlikely in this case. More likely they just didn't have the correct size tool.

Pelagos is a large piece. Watchmakers arent always as clued up as the ADs imho. So I wouldnt stress too much about it. Did you not het paperwork with it?

Yea I have paperwork. I wasn’t sure if these items were replicated as the Rolex and other more pricey brands are. I really appreciate you guys jumping in to help me on this one.

Well at 72 hours it was still going so strong power reserve. I think reps have 48-50 hours. Has anyone heard of 70+ on a rep yet?

maybe "swiss" and "made" in GEN are distant from the 6 0'clock mark compared to REP which seems to be closer? what do you guys think?
