Correct me if i am wrong. But from my understanding, this is how to set the moon phase indicator:
1. You advance the moon by pressing with a pushtool and place it in the center (=fullmoon).
2. You look at a fullmoon calendar and find out when the last fullmoon was (fx 19th april 2019).
The moon is now placed at the date of the last fullmoon. You now have to advance it to the current date:
3. Calculate the number of days between the fullmoon and date of today. Advance the moon by clicking that many times. For example the date today is 3rd May 2019 and the last fullmoon was on 19th april 2019. Therefore it has to be advanced 14 times.
4. You can double check with a visual reference if it looks correct. On Patek's site you can calculate the visual reference and also see a fullmoon calendar:
