Hello,

So in less than a year my IWC 3777 stopped ticking. I wanted to swap it to another a7750 clone which I found on eBay for $110. Looks exactly the same, has day date and chrono function.

Wondering if it’s a direct swap and does not need modifications? I removed the dial, hands, and date wheels.

If not, I’ll just buy another watch, I’m not expert on these repairs but it’s fun.

Looks to me like you are well on your way. Should be fine. Go for it

Should fit 1:1. You have a handset tool? Be really careful with the stems, they will break if you set the hands with a little bit too much power. Remember you have to set the chrono hands with resetted chrono function. And the minute and hour hands at 12:00 at date switch. This is tricky.

110$ for an A7750? Pricey...

That’s the cheapest option I found, unless you know any cheaper a7750s. The eta is $4-500. The entire watch is $300 from a Td Lol

I bought a cheap hand set tool but my 4 year old son lost all the tips so I’m only left with one size, but I might use the tip of a pen or maybe just rebuy the hand setting tool, it was 9$ shipped.

The date wheel swap looks tricky, I’ve been watching some YouTube videos.

Can you elaborate more one what you mean at date switch? Like 12am with all the hands centered? I removed all the hands when it was centered at 12, easy. Resetting them looks to be the hard part

Swapping the date wheel requires patience and care. Do not lose the tiny screws and the small spring!
Also, careful with installing the subdial and central chrono hands. Don't rush yourself.

That's ok, should work of you keep the winding stem removed and the movement stopped.

I can’t get the chrono hands on for the life of me! The hands and the stems seem perfectly intact, I just can’t seem to press them in. I’ve pressed down on them hard and they just don’t want to get seated.

I’m practicing on the broken movement at the moment and it’s not going well...

What I found very very very hard is that setting the long chrono hand I can never get it set perfectly at 12. How do you guys keep it stable and sitting EXACTLY at 12 whilst pressing it on?

Many years of practicing. Watchmaker craftsmanship is one of the highest skilled craftsmanship in the world. Everybody can learn to paint a wall or to lay tiles. But only a few learn to reassemble a movement. And that's only the easy part of watchmaking.
