Hello everyone.

Trying to decide between the ZF 3714-16 and the ZF 3716-02 and while PureTime have specs up for both of them, would appreciate some advice from you knowledgeable folks.

Some of the other TDs mention the A79350 v2, or a V3 on these 3714-xx IWC Portugiesers . Chris' brilliant post does explain that the A79350 is a mod on the underlying A7750 movement, with added jewels and gears.

Can someone confirm that the A7750 (Slim Movement) with the watch size of 12.5mm is the A79350 movement? Both show beat rate of 28800 vph. So in essence -
A7750 - original mvmt
A7750 v2/v3- modded with the additional gears, 29 J version, slim mvmt is also known as the A73950 / Best Editions 1:1 ?

Cheers,
H

I recently purchased the ZF Portuguese 150 year addition with Blue dial and it worked for 5 minutes when it was delivered then just stopped. I tried resusitating it by Winding, resetting, banging against my palm for reserves...none of it revived it. The blue dial looks ok, but subdials not indented as much as the gen one. Im very disappointed in the movement and had to send it back paying $64 for shipment..Which im assuming from what I've been reading with this movement A7750 it will probably die on me again...smh I would steer clear from any A7750 and save your money..

Looking closer into the dial, the ink on the numbers is a bit raised like gen..

It's really down to your luck. All my IWCs still have not died on me. Can't say that for the APs though!

I got mine a couple of days ago from PureTime and unfortunately I have to side with the argument of needing better QC on these ZFs.

On mine, the winding screw and rotor on the back are disconnected; when I wind the crown - the rotor does not spin at all. can still set the time and have it working with the movement while on hand but it ran out of reserve just overnight.

Is this an easy fix or should I be sending this back?

For those who are also planning to go the franken route with this one and add a gen dial (gen has a special lacquered dial /enamel look which the ZF dials can't emulate): I have two gen white and two blue dials left.

What are you asking for the blue dial?

Yes, but if he is serious, which I am not sure, I would require he posts it in the m2m sales section, and have it approved by the moderators.
Otherwise, wrong section, no backup, no verification, minimal posts, etc.
Thanks

I just got my ZF V3 IW3714 with gen dial installed back today from my watchmaker and wanted to share some pictures with you guys. At daylight, the blue dial will probably be even a little bit nicer. I'm thinking about going down the franken road even a little bit deeper and putting a gen cal. 79240 inside. Has anybody successfully installed a gen cal. 79240 / 79350 inside a ZF V3 slim case yet?

You will need a watchsmith to do some case changes to fit a gen movement inside. It's not a simple swap of the movements!

If you are in EU, Domi can do this.

higginsd : OK, thanks for the explanation. If I will install the gen IWC caliber I will also try to source a clear sapphire caseback since the 79240 is quite a beauty for a 7750 based movement.
d3xophen : The bezel / tachy ring is ZF 3714 (matt and not as shiny as on the 3716).

Gen (left) vs. ZF rep (right) dial comparison. ZF hit the dial color very good. However, the printing / font is a little bit to thin compared to the gen and the dial is not as even / flat as the gen around the subcounters. Still a very nice rep.

Gen hands and gen movement finally waiting to be installed. To be continued...

Another IW3716 project finished today (Zf base, gen dial, hands, movement, strap). The white dial version is also very classy.

I'm wondering if there is consensus on which rep (3716 vs. the 3714 v3 ZF) is the best in terms of reliability/performance. Or no difference at all?
I can live with the colours/dials being somewhat off, main concern is it not breaking down...

Reliability should be the same, since the ZF 3716 has the same A7750 movement, only with an additional decoplate (which can be removed) to immitate the new IWC „in-house“ movement.
