I know this must have been posted a bunch of times but wanted to share my experience with my recent build . I couldn’t find a Gen Reverse panda dial so after finding this great community I thought maybe I could source a dial and build one . I was lucky enough to find a Gen panda dial with Gen tachy . I also picked up a complete set of Gen hands , Gen crown, and Gen winding rotor to add to the build . I picked up a used V3 and a V2 that was offered as a v1 lucky me it wasn’t . The differences I found was interesting as both have great pieces to combine and make a ultimate . The following is the comparisons I found to be best when I put it next to my Gen .
V2 dial is a matte finish not like Gen or the V3 . The v3 dial is very close to the Gen and has a way better finish than the V2 . Slightly off in color and in lighting but overall better than V2 . I didn’t use either dial but for anyone that might have questioned it the V3 is the way to go . The case is also thicker housing what looks like a A7750 movement having the crown position completely off similar to the AP ROO reps . The positives on the V2 over the V3 is the caseback , weight and crown . The V2 caseback is identical to my Gen with the serial number font being slightly smaller . The weight of it is .2 grams different where as the V3 is about 7 grams lighter than Gen . The crown font is also spot on not being lightly stamped where it’s not legible in certain areas . The case being wrong complete has its plus with the caseback off as the screw positions are exactly as Gen . The V3 I used with slim case had a extra hole next to the mounted screws . Don’t know why but perhaps a factory defect .
V3 has the exact same case dimensions . I placed my Gen movement complete in it with no issues for comparison . The AR is Gen like and sad to say but movement had a better power reserve and time keeping that both my Gen and V2 . I just had the gen serviced 2 years ago so go figure . The strap and Deployant is also very Gen like and better than the V2 .
Both the V2 and V3 won’t accept Gen sub dial hands . The minute, hour , and seconds hand does work on the V3 . So this build consists of
V3 slim case , V3 slim movement , V3 sub dial hands , V3 Deployant , V2 caseback , V2 misc screws, Gen dial , Gen Tachy , Gen hands, Gen crown , Gen strap and Swiss rotor .
Pic of the back of a V3 dial and a Gen dial in one pic . The rest are of my Gen and Build but I’ll let you guess which is which . If you have any questions please ask
