Hey guys, Noob here still trying to research the highest quality replica and dealer. To owners of the IWC Big Pilot I was hoping to get some feed back on the over all quality and how it may compare to the original? What price point do you need to spend to get the best replica? My other question is how risky is it to buy a replica with the potential for a shop to be shut down at any time? I have a very limited budget, but I simply love the design of the big pilot and I really just want it to enjoy for myself. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Hi, I bought a ZF 500916 lpp a few months ago and I must say it is a very nice watch. I replaced the strap because the standard one was very stiff. I'm not very expert either, but I think the biggest differences from the gen are the blue of the different dial and the crown. However I am very satisfied.

I love the Pilot watches, especially the BP. Here’s mine with gen dial and Chief crystal. I think the DW is a mod too.

Hey there, I’d go for any of the ZF factory big pilots, look for the latest versions you’re probably going to spend about $350-370 to pick one up but you won’t be disappointed most of the blacks/blues are considered super reps. The blues may be slightly off but unless you come into contact with a Gen it will be very hard to distinguish. Seconded with the crown although the correct shape etc the logo is sunken as opposed to flat, again this is virtually invisible on the wrist as your hand will hide it etc. The replicated 7 day movement is solid and mine hasn’t shown any issues although naturally the power reserve is more 3/4 days. Nothing to scoff at of course. Hope this helps.

Iv'e been eyeballing the Big Pilot IW500912 ZF 1:1 Best Edition on Black Leather Strap A521111 $368 from InTime Watches and Toro Bravos. However I do not see what factory they come from, and I can't get a reply from a dealer to assist me with my questions, seems they don't accept cc payment. They seem to prefer a wire transfer, but that makes me nervous. Any chance you can vouch for these dealers? I'm currently studying Horology so I hope to maybe improve on it. Again thanks.

Yeah I'm not having any communication from the dealer of InTIme, they don't seem to care about a customer. I think I give up for now. All I get are automated emails.

Would it be safe to say the black by BP is the most Gen like option? I know the blue is a contiguous topic. Would you say the black is closer to Gen than the heritage?

If you are talking BP as a maker then no...they are quite old but a good value now. Any ZF with a black dial would satisfy IMO as a first Big Pilot.
