Just bumping this thread to reassure everyone interested in this watch that it is indeed fully bronze. I gave mine a few hours of ammonia fuming and got the telltale patina of bronze. Here’s a before and after photo.

I think I’ll let nature take it from here.

Nice one thanks. I have one on the way that I will Franken with a gen dial.

Will accelerate patina also, I also want to age the rivets but wondering if ammonia or sulphur effects leather?

Stay tuned!

Can you please explain "ammonia fuming"? Thanks!

Sorry for the late response. The watch is suspended above household ammonia as shown in this picture. I find this a much preferable method of forcing patina. The result is a more even patina and there’s no need to submerge the watch in liquid.

Awesome, hope this works. How long did you expose the watch to ammonia?

For this watch, I think it was 4 hours. However, the ammonia had been used for many watches previously and not quite as strong as a fresh pour. Best to keep checking every 45 minutes or so, until you get the desired shade.

After 6 - 8 hours I can say my "restarted" patina looks much better. The bronce is mat, used, looks older and used.

But no brown parts. Let's see how it develops the next weeks. Maybe I'll also try adding brown patina by using potassicpolysulfid.

Frankened mine. Gen dial.

3D triangle and correct 2 and 4 numerals.

I'm satisfied with the patina up to now.
