Will we see the any new IWC super reps?

I sometimes ask myself why the rep factories give so little attention to IWC.

It seems pretty obvious that there is a larger market for AP or PAM and its obviously way easier to make money
by throwing out a new AP or PAM every month with the same case, etc. just in different colors compared to create something from scratch.

But there is one of the main problems whats holding IWC guys back. There are so little really good reps. Most of them have major flaws. (Hi @ Miramar)
And then there are some with minor flaws, that could be easily fixed and yet haven't been touched for years.

For Example the Big Pilots.

5002: Shorten the hour indices around 3 oclock, raise the date wheel and you have a super rep that noone will be able to tell apart from a gen.
5004: Fix the DAYSI !!! Like the easiest fix.. and of course the caseback.

Fix that and i swear it sells like butter.

We all saw what happened when noob released the laureus sport. Give us more of this quality please.


What do you guys think is the future of IWC reps. Will we see anything good?
Or do we have to wait till the AP market has been milked with AP diver v21 and AP Forged carbon v8 for 1200$...

An issue with the reps is the seconds at 6. Most gen chronos have that and it's a hit and miss in the rep world.
But I totally agree with OP when he says if there is a super rep, I'll jump in the bandwagon as well!

sec@6 is a problem, but thats for every brand.

But there is another point. People seem to love the 3714, but hesitate to buy it because the sec@6.
Why not rep the 5001? It is basically the same watch without the chrono. I bet 90% would be ok with that.

I would extreme like a 5001 rep with faux-PR and running second - but the correct position of the two subdials. It's a strange thing the makers are not able to realize this simple watch.

@TauHway: they are in fact NOT ABLE to fix the problem! The only solution would be a module like IWC created for the sec@6. But thtat's behind their skills I think.

What is the opinion on the Portuguese Power Reserve?
Sec @9 at least negates the sec @6 issue. But are there some serious flaws in the front that makes it a no go?

You mean the already rep'ed 5001? One of the biggest flaws is the position of the subdials - complete wrong. The date wheel is horrible recessed. And last not least the "funny" date quick change pusher at the side of the case. IWC won't build a pusher inside on of their fine watches. This rep is - crap.

get the gen if you really love it.

i for one was never a fan of AP or IWC for that matter. But I must say that the portofino line looks classy on the wrist.
