Hello fellow IWC rep enthusiasts,

I am currently contemplating upgrading the movement in my 3789 Pilot Top Gun, and I was wondering if any of you had any experience with the IWC caliber 79320?
From my research, this is basically an ETA 7750 that has been slightly modified and tuned by IWC in an effort to reduce friction (here is a post on WUS detailing this https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/...rom-eta-valjoux-7750-to-calibre-79320.506075/).

I have the opportunity to get a used 79320 for roughly 100€ more than a new ETA 7750. Is is worth the extra investment (considering I would also have it serviced), or should I just go for the 7750?
I do plan on keeping this rep so the ability to have it serviced by any watchmaker is a concern with the 79320 whereas any part is readily available for the 7750.

Thank you for your input guys!

The cal. 79320 was delivered completely assembled to IWC by ETA, whereas earlier versions (e.g. cal 7922) were delivered to IWC in ebauches and modified in-house by IWC.
So basically the 79320 is a Top-grade ETA7750.

However, I you can get it for only 100 Euro more than a ETA branded 7750, I would go for the 79320.

(Normal marketprice for a 79320 is currently > 600 Euro whereas an ETA 7750 is somewhere between 250-300 Euro).

Thank you for the detailed answer, that's appreciated! So serviceability/access to parts down the line shouldn't be an issue then as all parts are compatible with the 7750?

I’d go for Gen for that price, not sure how elabore or chronometer grade ETAs are selling but I would imagine it would be close to $1k since Sellita clones are selling for close to $500

I have an iwc petit prince replica and wonder if the real 79320 movement will fit without using oem hands?
