Hi all,

I just bought this KS on eBay and the watch seems in an excellent condition given it is 49 year olds (I checked the serial number it said April 1971).

Do you guy think it is a legit King Seiko? I will try to open the crystal to see the movement. Here are some photos

What makes you think it's not? Japanese take care of their stuff. ???? (Not sure if chinese are cloning vintage hi-beat movement, I don't think there is enough market)
I also bought one recently, yet it's traveling home, coming directly from Tokyo. It is having some patina and a small scratch, but yours could have been nicely serviced.
I chose it for the hi-beat movement. Given the small size I don't consider it a daily watch, just the days when I need to feel that beat ????

Accuracy on this watch is extraordinary. Late 60's and early 70's was the golden era for mechanical movements.
I managed to find a grand seiko from that time also, now wearing it at +/- 2 sec/day in average.

In those years, High Beat is 28800
only in very rare movements is it 36000

Maybe you are right. Japanese does take care of their stuff. I am the same and I am surprised how this 50 yrs old watch look. I saw few more on eBay and Chrono24 and by far this one is excellent condition.

I think it is gen but hope someone can tell whether restoration has been done like dial, hands.

I looked for 36,000bph movements and thus I chose these watches for my collection:

King Seiko 45-7000 manual (shipped home)
Grand Seiko 6145-8000 auto
Longines ultra chron cal.431 auto

The sweep is outstansing, on the contrary they would need to be serviced more often due to the higher beat and wear.

How often do you service your KS? Just curious in case mine need one. At the moment it keeps good time at 10-15s/day.

You should service it every 4 years as average. But you would extend it or service it more often based on your caring.

For example, in case you use it or have it working every week (by winding it once a week). You may extend it.

On the contrary, if you check accuracy gets worse or you don't wind it for a long period of time it is advisable to service it.

i'm no expert but it looks "legit" to me
in my experience, it isn't at all uncommon for sellers to put together gensteins for sale, that is to say all the parts are gen, but may not be original to the base watch
unsurprisingly with the wear on the caseback gold medallions, the caseback gets swapped out (for a different gen caseback in better condition) with some frequency

i'm not saying your KS is a genstein cause there's really no way to tell, but usually if a watch is in too good a condition, i would suspect it might be
