Bought this on E-bay, from Spain. Some German E-bay algorithm decided it should really show me this offer in Spain when starting up the app. I immediately fell in love with it.
Even though it looks like someone really did his best to destroy it somewhere between 1995 and now. But that's kind of the charm of course.
Supposedly it has an ETA-2824-2 movement. I still have no clue how to identify these movements, so he might just as well have posted pictures of a Chorizo-sandwich, but the seller seemed legit enough and I underbid a little so I got it cheap enough not to worry too much. I love the look for sure.
Before bidding, I googled the shit out of 'Yves le Bur' and found he was registered in Selzach, Switzerland. Started in 1995, stopped making watches somewehere between 2005 and 2015 as the brand name was no longer renewed in Switzerland. Some of the watches I could find would go for about 280 Euros, (in a much better condition, but totally boring models) and some really ugly ones even sold for the astronomical price of.... 1 Euro on a Swiss auctions site.
So the brand was not a selling point exactly. Even if the watch turns out to be shit I must say that I really enjoyed looking stuff up about the brand and getting it cheaper.
Cost me 120 Euros including international shipping to Germany.
Just wondering: what would you guys do? Leave it like this? Bury it somewhere in my garden? I was thinking of buying a Nato-strap (James Bond-ish) and a pearl pip. But I'm not sure yet.
Let me know what you guys think!
