While the Tudor is lovely, it is readily available in the rep — and quite well done. If it were me, I’d get something a little rarer and a little more difficult to rep.

I would take a look at some SS Gerald Genta or Pierre Kunz pieces. Can be had for under $3k, you’ll never see a rep and the complications (Kunz) and history (Genta) will be fantastic additions to your collection.

So I have not pulled the trigger on gen watch yet. It's between the Pelagos LHD and the BB 58. I'm thinking grey market dealer like Jomashop, price about $3800. I want to go to local boutique store and try them both on before I make purchase. It's hard for me to pull trigger because of the reps, they are so good. I'm mean we know that they have flaws but 99% of public would have no clue. I picked up a couple of nice reps while I've been trying to decide.

I'd personally go for something that hasn't been/will never be repped or hasn't been repped properly. In the last couple of years I've come to appreciate high end quartz watches ( high accuracy, temperature compensated), as they are of great quality and always ready to pick up and go. The one that I'm after at the moment is the Volcano black dial Breitling Aerospace Evo. It's titanium, so super light, it has that cool tech 80's vibe, it's insanely accurate and it looks awesome on an 7" wrist. It's definitely my next gen.
