Thanks Niko, that's what I thought about hydrolic acid. Red Dave's idea about the dry ice is good but dont know of any metal working shops. I'm just gonna get as far as I can with what I'm doing and leave it like that. Itll still look pretty cool

Some images relative to the thread. Hopefully the final revision of the plans was submitted on Friday. To date the rebuild is yet to start.

God speed OP!

Maaaan it's looking awesome just how I envisaged the resto could happen. Its definately one of a kind with one hell of a backstory. If this isnt genuine patina I dont know what is. I hope you get the movement rocking. Keep going I'm astonished how good it is coming on

No I can't do anything thing with the movement the way it is, its stuck. So what I'm gonna do is gut a doner 2892 to rebuild this, I just have to be super careful with this dial now that its baked.. I think what I'm gonna do is try an bake the pearl in the doner insert also to try an get the same look for the pearl

It would be pretty cool if they wanted to use this watch in one of the films

FWIW, some nylons are soluable in alcohol. But ti takes some time. I wouldn't use denatured alcohol / white spirit because they have other solvents in them, but you could soak the bracelet overnight in grain alcohol. Or maybe a strong scotch, given the backstory. A little hair of the dog, so to speak. :)

Fascinating thread. Thanks for posting.

This is pretty interesting-fun project. I would have tried my walnut nut shell blaster first...It works well on intake valves..lol ..UK cousins has a pretty decent selection of Clark's crystals to cross reference with OEM stuff or splurge and hit up Steve.

Well unfortunately I may have to sell this watch and was wondering if anyone here is interested in continuing this project? I'm still on the fence about it but could really use some cash for something totally different I'm working on (non watch related) would really be interested in trades for a big lot scrap gold filled jewelry for refining as that is what I'm learning
