Went down to the waterfront today ( Seattle ) with intention of looking at these and other goodies . Been looking at this brand since they came out with the Extreme models about a year ago.
Big, meaty 48mm is nice on the wrist. Rubber is nice looking and sports the model better Imo. You can get both straps (Steel) at $1900.00 with change, but was offered with no quibble at 25% off list.
That all Black model is ultra, and what I should have by this next weekend as I couldnt resist...

Caseback is nicely finished. Movement look familiar.

There's a couple of watch nuts over on the light side with the stainless one, very nice looking watches and easy to adapt the unitas for a regulator model too!

Owned the mid size quartz diver for a while. It was good watch if you could you find them under $300. Think I ended up selling mine for a song. Crappy side way pic below

That's lovely........What sort of price range is that in?

Sorry for the late reply. These can be had for 1100 to 1800 usd. Depending if you get one from an AD or grey market. I am impressed with the build quality for this price.

Cant justify spending over $5000 or $10000 for basically a SS watch. Don't care how lovely the in house movement is!!

I know exactly what you mean. I'm also trying to find the smart money watches that I like the look of and give good bang for the buck rather than get too hung up on image and brand name.

Had a look at an Alpina Extreme Diver 300m in Dec at an AD. It was a solid, good looking watch, discounted from A$2400 to A$1200 or so. SS with skeleton back. It seemed good value but as I didn't know the brand I passed it over.
I'd also like to hear from those in the know why this would be a good buy.

Arial Adams has a couple of reviews on the Extreme Diver from 2012. Too bad not a peep since. It reminded me of why i did buy this over some other deserving and slightly cheaper watches. His comment about the AR so well done that you think you can just reach out and touch the dial is spot on. This is one of the things I really miss in my reps!

Couple more shots for some more lovin and respect :-0

Really love me an Omega Seamaster PO but this Alpina has a nice reflective bezel, all be it aluminum, very nice reflective metal surrounds on the dial indicator and date window. The winding is butter smooth and the rotor is whisper quiet.

My next rep may have to be a Panerai instead of the PO, dont need any more orange in my collection!! For now ;-)

Alpina's pilot watches look really nice too, $k's less than a IWC or equivalent.

Just returned from a Caribbean cruise where I had the opportunity to look at many of my watch list dreams in St Thomas USVI. I looked at a lot of Omega Seamaster PO's all lovely and Omega will let you use their money for 2 years free. Not bad but still hard to justify $5K of my real money.

I had the chance to look at my supposed "grail" watches Panerai at Diamonds International. Pleasant surprise when the sales associate looks at my watch and says "nice Alpina, we don't see those too often". Well needless to say but my chest puffed out a bit.

Although I did really like the Panerai in person once I looked at an IWC Big Pilot, I was in love. I have a big wrist and my wife prefers large watches on me. I have to say the IWC's are absolutely gorgeous. I wish the Portuguese was a little large because that have a beautiful dial. Love there numeral font.

Long story short, the manager takes two Panerai's out of the vault for me to look at and also comments on my Alpina once he see it.

So the moral of my long winded story is if you like the look of the Alpina's buy one they are well made and for the money are great value imho.

Ps I am not affiliated with the company at all, but if they see these post and want to reward my praise with a free watch, who am i to argue :)

Cheers

How about this IWC I saw when visiting Geneva Switzerland last year?!.. As for Alpina, nice watches and you can either obtain a great deal on them via Gemnation as they occasionally have them posted up on the Daily Deal (seen the Chronograph model of this dive watch brand new go for $600 and change there), and do yourself a favor and install the APP Watchrecon and take a look at all the Alpina watches selling for cheap. You can also use the website for Watchrecon.com if you don't want the APP.
