How do watchmakers test waterproofness?

Pretty much this.

I bought an AP from M2M and I want to get it tested so I could bring it with me to the pool or shower in it.
How exactly do watchmakers test this? They won't just put it in a pool and see if the watch is wet inside lol.

Also, any idea how much a test like that would cost?

You can get an inexpensive tester off of eBay and test it yourself. I have one of those and test my watches once a year to know they can be taken into the water in the summer.
