Is the Miyota 9015 a suitable replacement for a 8215?

I've been looking around for a few days and can't figure this out. Some people say yes, some people say no. The specs listed on Perrin's match up nicely.

8215 diameter: 26.00 mm
9015 diameter: 26.00 mm

8215 thickness: 5.67 mm thicker by 1.73 mm
9015 thickness: 3.90 mm

8215 hands: 150/100/17
9015 hands: 150/100/17

8215 stem (065-212): tap 10, 20.3 mm
9015 stem (065-A05): tap 10, length ???

Since the tap matches, the crown itself should be transferrable as well, right?

From what I can tell, it looks like the 9015 should be a decent replacement for the 8215 as long as you get a spacer (for thickness) and cut off the dial feet.

I imagined deco plates, etc. would be completely unusable except possibly the rotor. (Congratulations if you guessed I want to "upgrade" some Omegas...)

I have been looking into a similar issue - I'd love to replace a DG2813 with a Miyota 9015. Did you, by any chance, test in the meantime if it possible to replace the 8215 with a 9015?

The hands fit nicely between the two. The issue you'll have isn't diameter, its with the stem height. Same for both the Miyota 8015, and the dg2813. Be aware, to use the 9015 in a case for either of the above, you will have to alter the case opening and crown tube depending on the rep you're swaping it into.

Hello!
The problem is the height of the stem...1.530mm for the 9015 and 2.570mm for the 8215...So I don't if a watch case for a 8215 will fit with a 9015...And conversely...

......and lets not forget dial attachments. Now its been a while, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but the dg2813 and miyota 8215 have same location for the dial feet. The 9015 has just about same hole locations as rolex 3135 at 230 and 7. So keep in mind. I forego the dial dots in this case. Use the movement dial spacer, remove dial feet. Line up the dial ontop ot the spacer, ie rt, lt, centering date window if it has calendar wheel, with two dial dots to temporarily keep the spacer and dial together. Then remove and using hypo cement attach the dial spacer to back of dial. This holds the dial in place, correctly nicely and still allows for removal later.

Hi atgm
I know that thread is a little old but I'd really like to know if you did that swap ... replacing a 9215 with a 9015.
I've just bought a B&R diver (Rep) with a 9015 and that movement is crazy good IMHO.
So I'd like to use it to replace the DG2813 movements in my wife's custom DJ and my son's Comex 16800.

Stem height is 2.52mm on the DG2813 and 1.53mm on the 9015, so I think I could use a thicker dial spacer to compensate the 0.77mm difference.
If we compare the technical drawings of a Miyota 8215 (same as DG 2813) and a Miyota 9015 we can see that :
- the distance from the downside of the dial to the canon pinion is 2.1mm on the 9015 and 1.85mm on the 8215
- the distance from the downsideof the dial to the hour hand taper is 1.2mm on the 9015 and 1.13/1.08mm on the 8215 so 0.07/0.12mm to substract to the 0.077difference on stem heights

So we stil have 0.70.65mm to compensate with a thicker dial spacer.
The problem will be to fit the hand hour without touching the dial but I'm pretty certain it can be done if we can get hands with a "long" tube.
I'll probably take my chance and buy a 9015 to test the swap ... hope it will work because that movement is about US$ 80/100 shipped.

How did it work out?
