Having a play with my new light box.

After seeing someone purchasing a light box to take better pictures, I searched eBay and found a cheap one to experiment with. I’ve already got a decent camera and here are the results of quick play. Any tips or criticism is welcomed. I definitely need more props.

Nice! Did you smuggle in some gens (apart from the Swatch)? The grey AT looks great!

Thank you. No gens apart from the Sistem 51. A lot of them have had work and genuine straps. The AT is an old V6F low beat version. Never let me down. My daily beater. Could do with a polish but on the whole pretty decent. Considering selling it and upgrading to a VSF 8900. But then again I don’t like selling parts of my collection :( Many watches that I’ve sold I can’t get now.

Nice images

Thankyou.

I bought the camera to take some nice pictures of my holidays but taking scenic shots is a real skill. Taking close ups are relatively easy. Before investing £1000 into a camera and lens, a light box for £30-£50 will give you great shots with a nice iPhone camera.

Yeah I feel your pain - I've been contemplating a few releases via M2M but I simply can't get myself to do it. Feels like each watch has a story and in the end it really boils down to how much space I can make. And convince my Wife... :D :D. Awesome shots btw.

Getting good pictures of watches is more about the light than it is about the camera. One of the first things I did when I got into watches is buy a light box and a stand to have some lights on. I have a spot that I just more or less leave it set up so when ever I want to take a pic or two I can easily do that. I still use a Canon 40D for my watch pics which was first out in 2007. I get great pics & I can assure it is not because of the camera. I do have a nice f 2.8 100mm Macro lens that helps a lot but you could get by with much less of a lens. This picture was taken a few years ago and I have posted it elsewhere but my setup is still basically the same. Here what it looks like:

Agree and what I was saying to PAC. Light box and a tripod for your phone and you will see just how nice a picture is possible.

Nice... Nice set up. Nice pics.

I take a lot of pics and try to set them up nicely. I always try to take good pics and I was tired of using my phone and wanted something good. Well... I should say that I'm an impulse buyer and my concern was that I'd spend $1400 on a camera and never use it. Especially because I like the nicer things. Quality.

On the other hand, I contemplated buying an inexpensive one but I'd hate to spen 300-400 and just have me say "that was a waste. I should have bought the hood one".

So one day I went out and bought a Sony a6000. I was told it was a great camera especially for beginners. But I must say I haven't had much luck with it.

On manual focus I can't get shots in focus. On auto focus, I just don't like the shots it takes. I'm not really sure if it's the camera or my inability to use it.

So basically it's been sitting for a few years and I rwally. Never use it. I am going to try and take a few pics and post them. Let's see what I'm doing. Or doing wrong. Maybe you guys can help me figure it out and work this camera.
