Absolutely right, bro. Tks.
And in the meanderi there was also written if this you posted is a rep, maybe Zf?

Nope. Not any specification, but.

1- Hand base large as a pizza tonno and cipolle;
2- Gens i found over the net have the balance wheel in silver color;
3- Gen price is something about up to $150K;

... everything could be in life but i bet that is a rep ...

I prefer if some expert (im an amateur) can confirm o deny what i pointed. Maybe someone can even identify the factory of the black tourbillion.

(As i wrote im not an expert but im just trying to help you in discerning the possible issues).

That is the PVD plated R8 factory version. Very thick too at 13mm (gen is under 10mm). ZF doesn’t do tourbillon. The ‘ best ‘ (for me) is the JF ultra fine at 11mm

Plating will always show the original finishing of the piece

Thanks Swiss_goupil
Searching for this R8f I found pics and I'm agree with you that a 12,5mm thickness is a big flaw compared to the gen.

By the way, I'm not interested in this tourbillon, but in its dlc-pvd treatment. As you rightly said, this plated coating should show the original finishing. In case of Zf 15500 dlc doesn't seem. So I assume the treatment is not a dlc.

I think there is only one way to go to have something that actually look great: buy a bunch of ZF 15500, remove their movements and have them professionally DLC coated. DLC coating is lot based so the price will be the same for one or twenty watches.

Logistic would be a nightmare tho....

I'm agree with you.
I was already thinking about the solution you suggested.
But I have no idea about the price for an industrial DLC coating, so next week I'm going to ask for it, then I decide if it's worth to go ahead

I have read somewhere that it starts at $1500 for a batch... so you definitely need at least 5-10 pieces otherwise it isn’t worth it

Hoping with same thickness and coating, plus a reliable movement...
A perfect moon AP rep at 500usd
Why not? Just to dream

Keep dreaming bro.

I doubt we will ever see a correct rep for this model, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, I believe you're right.
I would be happy for a rep of any royal oak offshore with gen thickness (this is the main reasons why I didn't buy one till now) and reliable movement

If they ever make a rep perpetual, it would be worth whatever they price it at

Here's hoping they manage to rep this one day.

AP doesn’t do coating, only ceramic. Chinese aren’t to shabby at ceramic reps, they should definitely try to do a full ceramic AP rep

Yes they can clone the ceramic case and bracelet but I doubt that they can clone Perpetual Calender movement or make the effort to do so. Most people don't want to spend $1000+ for a rep.

There's always the Offshore Diver which has the same thickness as gen.

That is not true.

The AP ROO Marcus for example has a DLC bezel and case. A few models were also given the similar treatment. The AP Lava was PVD coated and so was the Las Vegas. If you want I can pull up a few examples.

AP DEFINITELY did factory coating on their watches
