Are ZF going to put JF out of business?

At their first attempt they produced a better version of the 15400 compared to several years of iterations from JF and now it's possible they're going to do the same with the diver.

What's next? The ROO chronographs?

There has been more than 12 iterations of the AP diver from Noob and JF alone and counting releases from other factories, there are maybe 18-20 versions of the replica of this same model. None of them got the watch perfect of course. Not one. The ZF release seems to have a better dial, hands and dive bezel compared to JF, from the pics. The cyclop and datewheel needs to be studied to determine the accuracy.
A movement clone isn’t necessary especially for a closed caseback but they could at least learn from XF and use a 2836 instead of a 2824. The date roll transition is nothing less than annoying as the AP3120 caliber features an instant date change.

So ok an updated “ideal build” diver for me(and this is my opinion, not the biblical truth)

- ZF dial, hands and dive bezel
- XF 2836 movement modded to swiss lowbeat and the modern font dw from the xf ceramic diver (my personal choice)
- I’m indifferent to the case, crystal, crowns and caseback. I’m willing to bet that while differences WILL exist when comparing any of the iterations to gens on the boards, there are no blatant tells in these aspects in real life. I’ve seen used gen AP crystals which look worse than a stock JF crystal. And I’ve seen wears on the gen crown rubber which make you question the authenticity of the watch.

But whatever you choose for yourself, it is easy to agree that the AP 15703/06/07 diver are replicas which aren’t worth buying gen. Are they 1:1 to gen? Definitely not. But are the differences worth the 28-30x price difference? Again it’s an easy no for most of us unless you’re an AP diver fanatic. So let’s be more accepting of new diver releases and not be over critical of their perceived flaws. Yes they are not perfect. But they are $500 watches at the end of the day. If you look at what AP is asking for the gen, you will see the inherent and undeniable value of rep.

Al. I have question. Is it direct swap between 2824 and Powermatic without modding right? How is the datewheel and hand? I have a spare Powermatic 80 plan for V7 before but now ZF coming out and thinking about that, or using the 2836 better?

Powermatic 80 is a direct swap on the 15703 diver which uses 2824. DW and Hands fit directly from the Rep watch. But as Legend mentioned, start with a 2836 based on this one. The XF 15706/7 divers use the 2836 movement. You can either look for a Powermatic with Day/Date @3 for swapping or get the 2836 modded with low beat parts (use balance/fEscape wheel/pallet fork) from a donor 284x movement.

I personally prefer a low beat converted A2836 than a powermatic80 movement but that is a matter of preference. The reason is because of the instant date change used for the 2836.
This is my opinion and you should choose the movement you prefer sir.

My first order and I have to say I am in awe of the attention to detail and the premium feel of the JF V10
Off topic: I am thinking of buying a FC Diver XF V3 now or maybe the 15550, hopefully it won't come to both

Two things I came across which was discussed in other threads and there were mixed answers:
1. the date change is instant 1 minute before reaching the 12 marker
2. The inner bezel is a matte seeing it doesn't reflect anything

Thank you all for contributing to the in-depth analysis of these stunning rep AP's

Noticed for your recommendation. I will gonna order ZF. Quality better than JF, specially the brush and the bezel. For dial, i still like JF, the swirls is almost gen like, however, i wish that JF can make the font little bigger. Overall one for I series and one for H series, So there are alot variations. ZF is now taking step for premium quality now.

Buddy, differences between rep 15710 and 15703 aren't in the movement, but in the case back: metal for 15703, glass for 15710.
I own a 15703 with a reliable A2824 and I don't remember whether A2824 is available for 15710, too. You can take a look at your td's catalogue...

Thanks a lot, I know for the glass in back, but why change the mouvement ? JF can keep the same , no ?

To the lume specialists, to correct the greyish tone of the hands, shall one use C1 lume colour (tritec)?

Hello All,
Is the JF v10 15710 as nice as the JF v10 15703? I do like to see the movement. Is there a major difference for the status of NWBIG?
thanks in advance...

Yes the major difference is that you can see the Miyota movement which doesn't look like the gen movement

You are a gen AP owner yourself bro. Which movement in rep APs looks even remotely like the gen? :hehehe:
Yes the AP caliber 3126/3840 is a basic stacked chrono caliber and rather outdated by now vs its rivals like the Hublot Unico caliber and the Daytona 4130 cal (strictly comparing chrono movements not brands or even watches) but it is very well finished and the details are amazing to look at.
I am glad that AP switched the 26470 offshores to open casebacks, it distinguishes them from the 26470 frankens, and necessitates a gen caliber to complete the look of the watch for the front and back. The bar for the franken builds are thus raised and we get to see more gen movement/rotor/datewheel frankens (or gensteins) vs the 26170ST franken models.

Plus the dial is different...the 15703 has the wet look, 'tapisserie' dial

Aha none of them, which is why the 15703 has its "super rep" or whatever NWBIG status, because the movement is hidden, unlike in the 15710 :)
