I’m very interested in grabbing an OMF Royal Oak 15500 RG/RG Blue Miyota 9015 from aTD. I think an AP in Rose Gold is just perfect! I would like to know how resilient is the gold plating on this watch and/or similar watches. Will it scratch easy, look cheap in a year? The other option would be the ZF Royal Oak 41mm 15500 SS/SS Blue A4302. Any expert advice?

I don’t think zf has released the 15400/15500 in RG yet. Hopeful that they do as I’d be one of the first in line.
They didn't, and tbh gold plating on rep usually looks fake from miles away, fading with time, ect...
As far as gold plated rep watches go, I agree with this general advice.
Remember that due to the softness and vulnerability of gold, even gen gold watches are not daily beaters. It is however ok, I think, to buy any gold plated rep to wear occasionally for the fun of it.
Surprised @FlyingTommy's gold plating has not come up yet. The quality of T.'s work has changed my attitude towards gold plated reps. If you are willing to go through the hassle of stripping down the watch to the bare parts for processing, well worth it. The Chinese plating, even the premium high thickness plating, is really not convincing. They just cannot get certain things right over there.

I’ve seen some bad gold plated reps, but my ARF yellow gold Daytona and vrf wrapped two tone sub look really good imo. And this is coming from the standpoint of having them both next to the gen variants (a friends). But to each their own, of course.
Didn't know flying-tommy was doing the job for members, thought it was for personal use only, interesting then to see a zf plated by him.
Yeah, I think there has to be some good ones out there. I’m reading that the JF APs are gold plated to 5mil which they say is fairly think and looks good in the pics. (Of course) Might go with the JF.
Replating is definitely doable
Would you point me to where I can order that dial and similar parts? I have a few watches I need to repair. Beautiful work btw!

Sadly, sourcing the parts is always the worst nightmare when you’re doing a build
