Just rec'd my ZF yesterday, and wow... I'm kinda at a loss for words for this watch. Such a big difference over the JF v5 (which I also have on hand; that one is going to be a stocking stuffer for my son). The thin profile and fluid bracelet makes for a wonderful fit. So comfortable.

I know a picture says a thousand words, so...

It's a major step on the 15400 :)

Edit: And there is the sunburst effect :D

Is ZF way much better than JF v5 ? If so, in what way? I have a JF V2j thats need to be replaced with a newer one. Black!

tell me, what should I go for?

The ZF:

- amazing dial (the blue and grey ones are the best).
- amazing bracelet
- better Swiss Made printing

Trust me Iam coming from a blue JF v2 :)

Thanks for the kind words, gents. The 15400 is such a photogenic watch! Easy to capture it's good side in pics!

As for which I would choose; having both JFv5 and ZF side by side, I would pick the ZF every time. Great finish and detail, beautiful dial, nice slim profile, and the bracelet has links that move freely and conform to the wrist much better without binding up or feeling stiff. The JF feels like a rigid cuff around the wrist (always reminding me of it's presence) whereas the ZF feels very natural and comfortable.
The thinner caseback also makes a difference in how the watch sits on the wrist as well; the JF feels pretty bulky with that thick caseback.

Yeah, I'm still in the honeymoon phase with this watch, but there isn't really anything not to appreciate about this watch. The Royal Oak has always been one of those designs that I've had a love/hate feeling for; love how it looks, but never enjoyed how they fit my wrist (especially the older variations with the single fold clasp). The ZF 15400 is the first one I've been able to wear *and* enjoy without wanting to take it off after an hour. In fact, it really hasn't left my wrist since I rec'd it yesterday afternoon (aside from a brief few moments to take pics). And yeah... I showered with it on, too. No issues there with water resistance either.

I originally had an order in for a black dial noob 116500 with thin subdial rings, but ended up changing my order to the ZF 15400 after it was released. And I'm so glad I did :)

I would say there is no accepted definition of what gen J series blue looks like. The early and later J batches cold easily have dials from other batches. Can’t prove one way or another. Therefore, I personally don’t worry about comparing rep vs gen blue, so long as the rep looks consistent with what AP could produce and it doesn’t look off.

Did a quick comparison; JFv5 and ZF...

JF:

ZF:

There are some definite differences between the two; if you like the larger, flatter clous pattern (with a very apparent sunburst), the JF is the way to go. The ZF has a smaller, more pronounced CdP, and I have to admit; I wasn't sure how I felt about it when I first had the watch in my hand. But after a day of living with it on my wrist, I've grown to prefer the ZF dial. It seems to have more character to it whereas the large, flat CdP on the JF is (dare I say) a little more sterile? I know this comes down to personal preference, but the more I look at the ZF, the more I appreciate it's personality.

Did you got the one with ZF Tag or with Z+ because we had a discussion in the ZF thread about it. From the pictures my dial looks more like the JF one from the sunburst effect.

Thank you! I did order a ZF royal oak Black dial from Intime today, it looks so much closer to gen, and also the thin caseback
