Hey all,

As we all know, grabbing a gen 15400 dial in blue is rarer than a 116610 Hulk dial imho.

I was just casually browsing on Chrono24 and I came across this gem - https://www.chrono24.co.uk/audemarsp...id11097394.htm

Originally, it was in a case so I asked seller to update photo with a closeup outside of the case as I suspected there was damage and the price was too good to be true (was also listed as being 'Unworn' and in 'great condition').

Seller has now updated the listing and as I suspected, there is damage to the dial with condition set to 'Poor'. It also seems like they've coloured the damaged spec in blue.

slaughterer62 and/or anyone else if they can chip in, is this something that is fixable?

I can't afford to buy this at moment (mrs has insisted I buy a 'family SUV' car...) but hopefully I can guide others to a treasure I cannot possess.

I've re-uploaded cropped+zoomed out pics further below for mobile convenience.

I don't know if it can be fixed, but their paint job is terrible

I think the new JF v6 dials are getting so good, I can't really see the point of spending a small fortune on a gen dial, and I would certainly have the rep one over a damaged gen dial

Looks like it's been kicked along the street.

IMO this is only good if you can remove the hour markers and use them elsewhere. Still, the best buyer for this dial is rep factories :D

This.

I own the gen blue and black 15400s and I just want to share that:

1. There are at least 3 variations of the blue dial. There isn’t one single correct blue. Also the blue changes hues under different lightings.

2. The JF blue dial is already close enough. This is something you cannot compare through viewing pics of the gen online. You may be comparing it to a different variant of blue or a gen under different lighting.

3. Putting a gen dial into a stock v4/v5 15400 does not make it a lot more accurate for reasons mentioned above. The hands are still a major tell and if you know what to look for (hands geometry, lume proportion and shape, center of hands stack etc). I like gen parts as much as the next guy but I agree with what Spitfire63 said, that the recent iteration of the JF dial is good enough visually. If JF updates the hands in the next iteration to make it accurate vs gen, then yes it’ll be worthwhile to invest in a gen dial to complete the look.

That’s of course just my take and others will swear that the gen dial and the rep one are worlds apart and it’s highly subjective of course, they won’t be wrong from their perspective! ;)
