is there any 15400 out there which has the right case thickness? Seems like they improve all these trivial details and ignore the characteristics that make it blatantly fake
Actually, what makes a rep “blatantly fake” is highly subjective.
For the 15400, the hands are a dead giveaway for me, as well as the thickness profile. The miyota movement is of course an instant tell the moment the watch is flipped over.
But other than that, the watch can be rather convincing when worn on the wrist. And yes the dial is becoming better and better and the effort made on improving the watch rather impressive.
If you wear it for what it is without pretense, i.e. a $400+ replica watch, you will enjoy it without needing to mod a single thing.
If you want to wear it like a gen AP, it will never be up to par even if you thin the watch and change the dial to a gen one.
Most of the members here are somewhere in between of course, they enjoy the watch when it’s modded in certain ways and that’s completely understandable. So yes if the thickness is an issue for you, get it thinned by a modder. If it’s noisy, get the rotor bearing assembly silenced. The rep makers will never get the rep perfect and it is up to you to do something to get your watch to the specs which you want.
