AP 15500 41mm

I dunno - I like the 15500 in total:

- fatter hour markers is nice
- lume on the seconds hand is fun
- minute markers outside of the grand tapisserie feels correct to me
- I particularly like the date font - more avant garde and sportier like the rest of the watch. Due to the thinner type face I wonder if JF can pull it off. My money is on them NOT executing it correctly for a year or two. I would love to be wrong though, because they've been improving their date fonts.
- Thicker case = more rep friendly

I also love that salmon 15202, I hope JF reps that as well.

I agree, the business model is launch this rep with some flaws. As always was.

Yup.

JF in early 2019:

- 10.6mm (0.2mm too thick)
- bad date font
- SWISS MADE not legible enough

JF late 2019:

- Fixed thickness
- SWISS MADE improved a tiny bit, not perfect
- date font still not fixed
- AP logo too small

And so it goes....

also in for the salmon 15202.BC if they fix the other flaws of their current 15202.ST. and get the color right. But it could be very hard to get JFs interest as the gen is only limited to 75pcs...

By the way, I am really curious why AP made 15500 thicker than 15400. Does anyone know why? please share the idea.

because of the difference in the calibre. I think they don't care much about 0.5mm when the attract a more sporty look over all with this dial. Maybe it was also a design aspect to make it more modern.

For ultra thin purpose they have their 15202

The 15400 was perfect, but I can see the changes may grow on me. The only irrevocable problem I have is the thickness increasing. I sold my jf 15400 because it was too thick ffs

AP making it thicker is good news for the repworld but in gen form imo, it shows they rushed this release a little.

It’s like in the interview of AP’s CEO about the CODE 11:59 where he says they wanted to put the same raised Audemars Piguet signature across the all line but they failed on the enamel dials so they released them printed for now...

For the rest of the watch I much prefer the 15400 but it will grow on me with time I think.

The biggest thing I don't like about it is by losing the automatic wording its thrown the dial out of balance IMO should have moved the audemars piguet wording down. Also think ap might have missed a trick, judging by both rep and gen forums there seems to be an awful lot of people myself included that find the 41mm wears too big for them, I think they might have opened it up too many more buyers of they had made it 40mm or even 39mm

LOL, the two do look similar, but I like the Sead's version better because of it's smaller size and thickness. I hardly wear my larger white 15400 anymore, but I think it will become highly sought after, because the 15500 is not available in white. The rep 15500, when it becomes available, will probably cost more than the current JF AP 15202.

I feel like it would have been more elegant to have a partial marker at 3, similar to the way the 15450 is laid out. Having the date window jammed up against the chapter ring like that looks strange.

The blue colors of the 15400 and 15500 dials are pretty dynamic I think.
My sales agent from the boutique called yesterday and told me that my second blue 15400 waitlist had officially been transferred to the 15500 waitlist as AP will be discontinuing the 15400.
It might be a bit of a wait but I can do a dial color comparison when the watch is in hand if anyone is interested. Of course, I think the rep 15500 will be released before I can get my hand on the gen lol.
